My original plan was that today should be a rest day and there shouldn’t be a WOD. But when thinking about, what if my readers don’t want a day off? Just because I am having a rest day and not writing a WOD, doesn’t mean everyone is taking the day off.

There are plenty alternatives to traditional weight training that can also give you a great workout experience. Here is a piece from Michael Messana, our PR Specialist, giving you an idea of what an alternative workout experience looks like.

F45 HIGH-INTENSITY GROUP WORKOUT CLASS

Let’s be real, everyone has those days in the gym where they are feeling a little sluggish, unmotivated, or even fatigued from the day before. This could be from work, your workout, or just the pressure of life coming down on you. When this occurs, it makes it HARDER to get a solid workout in, and makes it much EASIER to say, “I’ll just come back tomorrow” and then leave.

When I am personally in a little rut, I like to try High-Intensity Workout Classes. These types of classes are led by a certified trainer who walks you through each workout, while motivating you throughout the entire workout to help you finish that extra rep! These classes can help you get back in the groove of things, while also giving you an incredible workout at the same time. So to change things up this week, I have been going to a gym called “F45 Training”.

WHAT IS F45?

F45 stands for “Functional 45-minute classes” and will provide you with just that. This class will give you a full-body workout while improving your levels of energy, endurance, and strength. MWF is all cardio based workouts while TR is strength based. This allows you to decide which muscle groups you’d like to work on each and every day of the week. Side note: (the Monday workout was a rude awakening and showed me I need to work on cardio more).

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

There are several different packages that F45 offers which vary in the number of passes you get and price. Check out here for additional information on pricing! I did the 1 week free trial and will most likely signup for a membership there. Try the one week free trial by going to their website and clicking the ‘Start Trial’ button.

MY TAKE

For me, I find this very helpful for my health and fitness journey for a couple of reasons. First, it allows you to get out of your comfort zone. There is a huge stigma out there for people who are self-conscious about how they look in the gym. Not even just the physical appearance but being undoubtedly nervous about not knowing if you are completing an exercise correctly. This is the great thing about workout classes.

The trainers are there for YOU. The trainers want to see you succeed and reach that goal that you have been working for! Secondly, as a guy who works out on a daily basis, it is always refreshing to have new workouts to perform while I am at the gym by myself.

These high intensity exercises are great when you have a limited amount of time to actually workout. They are fast paced and will lead to the results you want to see. I would recommend everyone to give these classes a try and share with me and questions or comments you may have about “High Intensity Training”, or how to become a better version of yourself on this journey of fitness!

Stay hungry and have a Happy Hump Day!
