Week 8 Recap

I hope this past week was manageable and not too hard for you! I know for me, I have meat every day and pretty much with every meal. I think it is interesting all of the research and attention around the meat industry recently.

Week 9

The Final stretch!  I know that during the duration of this challenge, the engagement of participants has fallen off, which is understandable and usually happens. This last challenge is the most important one to me and even if you aren’t going to win, I want you to participate in this challenge. The name of the challenge is ‘Do something bigger than yourself’.

What does this mean?

This means to give back to your community through community service, getting involved in a charity, or can be something as simple as cleaning up trash around your apartment. The challenge is to commit a couple hours one day this week to giving back, or to take that initial step to getting involved.

I am a big brother for Big Brother and Big Sisters of metro Carolina and the process of becoming a big took a few months. You can use this week to take those first initial steps if that is what you want to do.

Benefits

Giving back to the community has plenty of benefits to not only the recipient of the action, but also for the individual performing the action. For me, it gives feeling of self-purpose and that I am making a difference.

Here are some of the benefits of volunteering:

  1. Volunteering connects you to others
  2. Volunteering is good for your mind and body
  3. Volunteering can advance your career
  4. Volunteering brings fun and fulfillment to your life
