Getting up this morning was a bit of a struggle. We lost power last night from about 6:30 Pm to about 11:30 PM. With the house getting hot and without the fan blowing, it made it difficult to fall asleep since I like a nice cold room in order to fall asleep. But the important this is that I made it to the gym. It started off a little slow, my body has been feeling pretty sore since Monday, so I kicked things off with a 1 mile run on the treadmill, hit some weights, and then ended it with another 1 mile run.

Sometimes you have a plan in your head of how a workout is going to go, but then when you wake up and get into it, that plan needs some adjusting. Which is totally okay and it happens. The hardest thing is showing up, so as long as you can do that, it’s at least a step in the right direction. We can’t execute how we would always want, but we can at least show up.

Workout:

Cardio 1:

  • 1 mile run on the treadmill

Weights:

  • Barbell squat 10, 8, 6, 6, 6, 5, 5 – I really worked on being explosive here and when coming up, coming up fast as if I were to come out of my shoes
  • 4 rounds of the following:
    • 20 second lunge hold with 45 lb plate (right leg)
    • 20 second lunge hold with 45 lb plate (left leg)
    • 20 alternating lunges (no weight)
    • 20 second calf raise holds (holding 45 lb plate)

Cardio 2:

  • 1 mile run to end

Mental Well being: Good, felt okay during the middle of the afternoon (when work drags on)

Mental Well being notes: Most of the time, when I have quiet days at work with meetings, I find myself not in as good of a mood compared to when I have a busier day with meetings. The night was good, minus the bird flying into our house when we got back from Life Group
